Kelly Presnell, FNP, CDE

Kelly Presnell, RN, CDE, has joined the practice of Khaldoun Al-Reyes, MD, at Tanner Clinic’s Layton location.

Presnell, a Layton native, comes to Tanner Clinic from Hill Air Force Base, where he managed the care of diabetes and assisted in the care of asthma, hypertension and high cholesterol.

Kelly earned his associate degree with honors from Weber State University, and followed up with his bachelor’s degree with honors in 2013. He began his career as clinical coordinator and case manager at care centers in Layton before certifying as a nurse practitioner. He joined Tanner Clinic in 2017.

He is a certified diabetes educator by the American Association of Diabetic Educators, and completed the U.S. Air Force Diabetes Champion Course in 2015.

“I got into medicine because I felt it was a great way to help people,” Presnell said. “I knew I didn’t want to spend all day in front of a computer.”

Presnell recognizes that educating diabetic patients can have a significant influence on their quality of life.

“That’s one of my favorite parts of the job,” Presnell said. “I really enjoy educating people on how to better manage the challenges of diabetes.”

Presnell is married with four children, ages 2 through 7. “They keep me pretty busy,” he said.

When he manages to find some free moments he enjoys backpacking and hiking Utah’s mountains.
