What Is Pediatrics?

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the comprehensive medical and behavioral care for infants, children and adolescents.

When Should I See a Pediatrician?

The first two years of a baby’s life are crucial for their growth and development and your pediatrician will need to keep tabs on how your baby is doing. That is why the the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-check visits starting 3 to 5 days after birth and then at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months. After that a yearly well-check is highly recommended to ensure your child’s health and to ensure that all vaccinations are current.

You should also see your pediatrician if your child is sick, developing a rash or if there is any other health concern that you are having about the health and welfare of your child.
