After earning his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, David Farnsworth, MD went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at top-tier Georgetown University, in Washington DC. In 2008, he completed a three-year residency in family medicine at Saint Louis University/Scott Air Force Base combined residency. Dr. Farnsworth is located at our East Layton on the main floor, east wing.

After his residency, Dr. Farnsworth practiced family medicine in the United States Air Force while stationed in Japan, Korea, and Germany. During those times, he served as the Medical Director for two multi-specialty primary care clinics and was appointed as the Chief of the Medical Staff and Ancillary Services Director (lab, pharmacy, and radiology) for his base while in Germany. In 2015, he returned to his home state of Utah to serve as the Flight Commander for the Flight Medicine clinic at Hill Air Force Base. In 2017, Dr Farnsworth joined the Utah Air National Guard (UTANG) and has been promoted to the rank of Colonel, serving as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the 151 MDG.

During his seven years living abroad in the Air Force, and in his travels in the ANG, Dr. Farnsworth traveled to about 40 countries. Thanks to these experiences, he has become an expert in travel medicine and loves to help patients prepare medically for travel abroad experiences. Additionally, he has been certified by the FAA as an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) for 1st 2nd and 3rd class pilot physicals.

Furthermore, through providing care for the country’s troops, Dr. Farnsworth gained a wealth of experience in musculoskeletal medicine and sports medicine and has published research within these fields.

In addition to his interests in travel, aviation, and sports medicine, Dr. Farnsworth enjoys helping patients with mental health concerns like depression and anxiety. He also enjoys using his undergraduate education in family and marriage relations and human development to aid his patients.

Dr. Farnsworth and his wife are happy to be home in Utah with their five children. Besides travel, he is passionate about music, foreign languages, snowboarding, and running (he is a former Mountain View High School and BYU cross-country runner).

Dr. Farnsworth speaks both Polish and German.
