Locations and Hours

Urgent Care Clinics

Tanner Clinic offers Urgent Care services at two locations, Layton Antelope and Westside. Extended hours, including Saturdays, are offered at our Urgent Care clinics. Please see hours and clinic information below for urgent care and walk-in availability.

Daytime Walk-In Clinics

Though Tanner Clinic encourages you to make a same day appointment at 801.773.4840, Tanner Clinic offers walk-in clinics at each of the locations listed below. Walk-in clinics are like urgent care clinics but only operate during daytime hours. Daytime walk-in clinics are staffed by physicians and Advanced Practice Providers that work at that location. Wait times may vary.

When should I go to the urgent care instead of the emergency room?

Deciding where to go depends on the severity of your medical condition. Go to urgent care for non-life-threatening issues like minor injuries, fever, cold, and flu. Choose the emergency room for severe conditions like chest pain, difficulty breathing, major injuries, or any situation requiring immediate medical attention. If unsure, call your doctor or local healthcare provider for advice. Below is a list of possible conditions that our providers can see and treat. If your condition is not listed, contact your provider. Again, if it is a life-threatening condition, please go straight to the emergency room to be seen.

WHEN SHOULD YOU GO TO URGENT CARE?

Tanner Clinic’s walk-in urgent care centers provide a less expensive option to emergency rooms for injuries and illnesses that are not life-threatening yet need immediate attention. This would include such ailments as earaches, coughs, fevers, rashes, insect and animal bites, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, minor burns, and lacerations. These Urgent Care centers are not used for medication refills, physicals, or other needs that should be taken care of during a planned appointment with a primary care physician. We also offer a Pediatric Urgent Care.

WHAT TYPES OF INJURIES DOES URGENT CARE TREAT?

Urgent Care Centers is for any illness and injury that is not life-threatening but is causing enough pain or concern that it requires immediate attention.  For example, this could include ailments such as:

  • Earaches
  • Pink eye
  • Stomach pain, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Cough or sore throat
  • Allergies
  • Runny nose, congestion, or sinus pain
  • Fever
  • Rashes
  • Minor burns
  • Insect and animal bites
  • Sprains or strains
  • Lacerations that may require stitches
We see minor injuries that are not life-threatening. This would include ailments such as earaches, coughs, fevers, rashes, insect and animal bites, and lacerations. If you or a loved one is experiencing stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, coughing up or vomiting blood, head injuries with loss of consciousness, heat stroke or dehydration, severe bleeding, chest pain, or any symptoms of a life-threatening problem, do not visit an Urgent Care Center at Tanner Clinic; call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency room.

URGENT CARE: HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM?

Before you search for an “urgent care near me,” there are several key differences you should be aware of when it comes to emergency rooms and instacare facilities.
  • HOURS: While the emergency room is open 24 hours a day, Tanner Clinic’s urgent care centers only have extended hours from regular clinic hours.
  • TREATMENTS: Emergency rooms are equipped to take serious illnesses, injuries, and anything that is life-threatening. However, our urgent care centers treat minor illnesses that are not life-threatening, but do need prompt medical attention.
  • COST: Urgent care costs are lower than that of an emergency room. Generally speaking, insurance co-pays are higher for urgent care, but still significantly lower than payment at an emergency room. Your insurance will be able to give you further information on what costs will be patient responsibility and what will be covered by your insurance. Many insurance plans will not cover ER visits that are considered non-emergency care.
