Clinical studies – also known as clinical research and clinical trials – are conducted by trained medical teams who research human volunteers in efforts to expand medical knowledge and treatments. During a clinical trial, participants receive specific interventions depending on the research team’s plans or protocols. Interventions may include drugs, devices, procedures, or changes to behavior (such as diet).
Every study conducted at Tanner Clinic is led by a trained team of health care professionals. These studies are normally sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers or other federal organizations. During the enrollment process, Tanner Clinic’s research team will ensure potential participants meet specific enrollment criteria including age, gender and medical history.
The duration of each study depends on the subject being studied. Participants will be notified how long the trial will last before enrollment. Compensation is included in select trials. Studies are conducted at various clinics at Tanner Clinic, please contact the team to determine study location before arriving.
