Nurse Practitioner Annie Himes, DNP, comes to Tanner Clinic seeking to help women be informed, prepared, and comfortable during some of the most important phases of their lives. “I’m planning to help my patients based on best practice, not just on how it has always been done,” she said. “My patients and I will take current research and apply it to each woman’s unique health circumstance and lifestyle.” She is located at our Layton Antelope Building B on the main floor.
Originally from Ventura, California, she attended Brigham Young University for her bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and then the University of Utah for her doctorate degree in Women’s Health and Midwifery.
“I love when I can help somebody who has questions about what’s going on with their body; we figure it out, help them take control, and use that knowledge to better their life,” Himes said. She believes educating her patients will empower them, and replace feelings of uncertainty with confidence and optimism.
“There’s a lot of things about women’s health that even women don’t know,” she said. “A big emphasis in my practice is going to be education.” Along with routine gynecology appointments and low-risk pregnancy, she specializes in contraception, infertility, and premarital/intimacy education.
Outside of work, she enjoys baking sourdough bread, camping, longboarding, art, ultimate frisbee, and spending time with her husband and daughters.
