Carie Comstock, CNM

Carie Comstock, CNM is a Certified Nurse Midwife at our Layton Parkway Clinic building on the third floor. She has a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from BYU Idaho, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from BYU Provo. Comstock is certified in NRP and NCC-EFM and is an ACNM member. She previously had an opportunity to volunteer with the Ouelessebougou/Utah Alliance where she provided crucial healthcare services to women there. Comstock joins Tanner Clinic as the first Certified Nurse Midwife and practices in our OB/GYN department.

Pregnancy and birth have always fascinated Comstock. She states “The way our bodies have the ability to grow life and that we can bring lives into this world safely is amazing. This process is a miracle and I am so grateful to those who trust me to provide the care I can for them and their families.” She believes that behaviors or traits that make her a successful Midwife include getting to know her patients and their families. Comstock wants to hear about their expectations for their birth experience and be able to safely provide that environment and care for them. She truly believes in providing evidence-based care and teaching others about it, along with focusing on the importance of backing her actions with solid and accurate information. Comstock is excited to provide Certified Nurse Midwife care to the patients at Tanner Clinic.

In the summer during her free time, Comstock loves being outdoors and being active. She particularly likes water skiing and camping up in the mountains. Having grown up in San Diego, it’s no surprise that her happy place is on a nice beach somewhere – although southern California will always be extra special to her. Comstock loves to travel and learn about different cultures in the world. Comstock says a hobby she has is she likes, “to pretend [she] can bake and try to make all the amazing desserts [she] can find during the holidays” and that The Great British Baking Show adds to that inspiration of her guilty pleasure.
