Get to Know Your Specialist

Dr. Daniel Chappell joins Tanner Clinic as a Family Practice provider in our Farmington location. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Micro/Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University Nevada, and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Family Medicine. Dr. Chappell is a board-certified family physician. His hospital credentials include being the Department Chair of Family Medicine at Lakeview Hospital and he delivers and sees babies at Lakeview Hospital, LDS Hospital, and Layton Hospital. In addition to his responsibilities at Tanner Clinic and the hospitals, Dr. Chappell also serves as an adjunct professor for Rocky Vista University and the University Of Utah School Of Medicine where he teaches 3rd and 4th year medical students and conducts research. Some of his research interests include working closely with lactation specialists to provide new techniques to patients. He is an osteopathic physician and often uses manual therapy techniques and philosophy to help patients heal without medication or surgery.

Dr. Chappell is a Utah native and grew up in the Cottonwood Heights area. He is fluent in French and served his mission in Madagascar. He is married and has six wonderful children. His happy place is spending quality time with his children. Together the family enjoys camping, boating, skiing and swimming. They also enjoy going to Disneyland and his favorite part about the theme park is their food and seeing the enjoyment his children get from being there – some of his favorite rides are Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars. In theme with his favorite Disney rides, Dr. Chappell’s favorite movies are Indiana Jones and The Empire Strikes Back.

Dr. Chappell likes to read biographies and one about Steve Young is a recent favorite of his. One of his pastimes includes listening to classic rock or folk music. Some of his favorite artists include Elton John, James Taylor, John Denver, and The Beatles. He spends time as a volunteer with Scouts and is an All-Star baseball coach. One of his hobbies is collecting stamps and loves chocolate. Dr. Chappell also runs his own mini farm where he helps raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, and ½ an acre of crops that he and the kids sell locally.

He believes the work he does helps people live a better life. Dr. Chappell states, “I love family medicine. I get to care for generations of patients. From grandparents to newborns I can be there for the entire family’s overall health.” Behaviors that Dr. Chappell feels makes him successful are listening to patients and having persistency to figure out what will work for their healthcare needs.

Dr. Chappell is fluent in French.
