York Yates, MD

Dr. York J. Yates, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon, specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery designed to improve the body’s form and function. His practice is located on the third floor of the Layton Antelope Building A west wing.

Dr. Yates’ practice in Tanner Clinic’s Layton-based plastic surgery suite focuses with great success on a wide variety of such procedures as CoolSculpting, miraDry, EMssculpt, breast augmentation, liposuction, and other surgical body contouring treatments. Dr. Yates does many of his tummy tuck procedures without drains which his patients love.  Most of his patients are interested in “mommy makeovers”, and Dr. Yates receives great satisfaction from operating on patients like these who “deserve it”.

A native of Davis County, Dr. Yates received his B.S. from the University of Utah. He remained in Utah to earn his M.D. from the U of U’s School of Medicine, finishing at the top of his class and thus allowing him to pursue training in plastic surgery directly out of medical school. Dr. Yates completed a six-year residency training at the University of Missouri, Columbia, that included a fellowship in microsurgery. During his residency and fellowship at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, he scored in the 98 and 99 percentile of in-service test scores in his final two years of training. He also worked in the University of Missouri Health System as a resident physician.

Dr. Yates returned home to join Tanner Clinic in 2003, a decision based in part on his admiration for his father, Dr. Jay Yates, a longtime family physician at the Layton clinic who retired in April 2018.
