With a specialized set of skills, EJ Hackett, MS, EdS, CMHC, brings a unique specialty to Tanner Clinic: help for those suffering from eating disorders. Her experience doing research and patient care in this field offers those in the area help they previously had to travel to obtain. Her practice is located at our East Layton location in the west wing basement.
With a mother working in healthcare, she grew up in several places in the country, including Holladay, Pocatello, Philadelphia, and Hershey, Pennsylvania. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology at Drexel University and her Specialist Degree in Professional Counseling at Georgia State University.
While in college, she did a graduate-level assistantship with Dr. Michael Lowe, and partnered with the Renfrew Center, where she delved into learning about eating disorders and helping those with them to find hope. Before coming to Tanner Clinic, she worked in both clinical and leadership positions to help patients, including serving as the Program Director at the Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders.
Now, she helps individuals with eating disorders and/or relational trauma history to rehabilitate and she teaches them how to live healthy, happy lives. “Northern Utah is a very under-served area for eating disorders,” she said. “I want to be a resource for folks so they don’t have to drive an hour and a half to find a clinic that can help them.”
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and horseback riding, specifically eventing.
