John Bitner, MD

John B. Bitner, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat). He focuses exclusively on the face, head, and neck, with particular emphasis on hair restoration. His practice is located on the third floor of the Layton Antelope Building A west wing.

Following the completion of his residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Bitner focused on the surgical treatment of head and neck cancer and reconstructive plastic surgery necessary to restore form and function. He offers a range of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures in his practice at Tanner Clinic. Using state-of-the-art procedures, he provides such procedures as rhinoplasty, facelift, and chin and cheek implants using 3D computer imaging analysis.

Dr. Bitner completed his undergraduate training, majoring in biology, at the University of Utah. He earned his M.D. as well as a Ph.D. in physiology and biophysics at the Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois.

Following his residency at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Bitner completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery sponsored by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Bitner is the only physician in the state of Utah and one of only a handful of physicians in the world who is fellowship-trained in both Facial Plastic Surgery and Hair Restoration Surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Among his many honors is the Academic Achievement Award he received for obtaining the highest GPA upon his completion of medical school.

Dr. Bitner and his wife are the parents of seven children. When he’s not enjoying family time, he’s golfing, snow and water skiing, and mountain biking. He also participates in triathlons and marathons.
