Jon Oberg, MD, FACS

Jon C. Oberg, MD, brings to his role as a general surgeon at Tanner Clinic a wealth of experience in all aspects of surgery ranging from vascular to cancer. His practice is located at our Farmington clinic.

Dr. Oberg joined Tanner Clinic in 2010 after 14 years of general surgery at a single-specialty surgical practice in Redding, California, where he focused on trauma, general, and vascular surgeries.

As a surgeon at Tanner Clinic, he also performs surgeries for breast cancer, gallbladder, bowel, hernia repair, and more.

Dr. Oberg was born in Salt Lake City and grew up in Los Angeles. He received his B.S. from Brigham Young University in chemical engineering. He earned his M.D. from the University of Southern California School of Medicine, Los Angeles, with honors in anesthesia, ICU, vascular surgery, ENT, and research.

Dr. Oberg completed his internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, transferring to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, Illinois, to complete his residency in general surgery.

The board-certified surgeon was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps, separating in 2000 as a major. While in northern California, he was chairman of the Surgical Care Committee at the Redding Medical Center, as well as chief of surgery at Mercy Medical Center, also in Redding.

Dr. Oberg’s staff loves that he is approachable and conservative with his patient’s care, making sure their care plan is thoughtout and necessary. In his spare time, he loves to run marathons, including the Ragnar. He also loves to paint, is an avid reader-mostly of history books and travel with his beautiful wife. He is very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Dr. Oberg is married with four children. In his spare time, he enjoys painting, skiing, and reading. He also enjoys family vacations.
