Joshua Shepherd, DO, MBA is an Interventional Pain Medicine provider at our Layton Antelope Building B in the basement. He helps provide treatment options for patients who have failed surgery. He attended Weber State University and Rockhurst University. For medical school, Dr. Shepherd attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, had a residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and a fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Shepherd is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Some of his special interests involve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of pain in the following conditions:
Dr. Shepherd has an in-depth knowledge of the physiology of pain and the specialized tests available for diagnosing painful conditions. His goals are to improve the function and quality of life for his patients by evaluating and understanding his patients’ complex pain problems and the effect they have on daily life.
He uses interventions to achieve improved function and decrease pain while striving to minimize the adverse side effects of medications. A part of that comprehensive treatment plan includes coordination with additional care like physical therapy, psychological therapy, and rehabilitation programs.
Dr. Shepherd grew up in East Layton and enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, and fishing.
