Krista Cook, PA-C is a provider in the psychiatry department located at our East Layton clinic in the basement. She has a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Weber State University and a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo Utah. She also has a (MAT) Waiver from the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.
Krista enjoys volunteering and had an opportunity to travel to the African country Tanzania on a medical outreach trip in 2019. She has also been a part of several outreach trips to the Navajo Nation in southern Utah. Krista has always felt motivated to address healthcare disparities and will be on the lookout for her next outreach opportunity. She is passionate about dispelling stigmas within healthcare. Krista feels so proud of patients who seek help for their mental health needs and she loves empowering them on their healthcare journey. She has met and worked with so many amazing healthcare heroes over the years, and recognizes the common thread they share. She said “they practice with empathy. They feel for their patients and treat them as they themselves would wish to be treated. I will always strive to do the same.”
Krista grew up in Davis County and is excited to provide care to the community she grew up in. She has two boys and loves cheering them on in baseball and their other various pastimes. She recently started taking piano lessons alongside her oldest son. She also enjoys seeing concerts and musicals. She loves backyard BBQs. A favorite guilty pleasure of hers is Doritos dipped in cottage cheese – don’t knock it till you try it!
Krista’s favorite music is anything by Queen or Michael Jackson. Her favorite TV show will always be “Arrested Development” having watched all the seasons many times. Some of her favorite movies include Cast Away, E.T., and all the classic movie musicals. Her happy place is walking the dog with her family and a cup of coffee in hand.
