Marie Hurst, APRN, NP-C

Marie Hurst, APRN, NP-C joins Tanner Clinic’s Psychiatry department. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a fellowship in pediatric psychiatry at Ohio State University. She is a member of the AANP and studied at Weber State University. Early in her college career, Marie received an Associate of Science in Nursing, then returned to earn her BSN and later her MSNP. Her practice is located at our East Layton location in the west wing basement.

Marie believes there is a great community disparity in pediatric mental health. She has always enjoyed listening to others and helping them through their problems. She is honored to play a part in healing those who need an extra boost in life regarding emotions and behaviors. When asked about traits or behaviors that make her successful, Marie said “I feel a personal connection to my patients that in turn motivates me to expand my knowledge of medicinal and other therapeutic options to treat mental health. In humanizing healthcare, patient outcomes can be improved by setting realistic goals. My goal is to connect personally to each patient/family and build a trusting relationship throughout their care.”

She grew up in California and Utah, and Marie is a single mom with four awesome children – two of whom are now in college. Marie loves animals, music (both playing the piano, musical plays, and concerts), hiking, being a foodie, cooking for others, boating, and discovering new hobbies. Her favorite book is The Five Agreements which she said is “life-changing, for sure!” As for a guilty pleasure, it seems watching Judge Judy is one of them! Her happy place is floating on a paddleboard in the middle of a gorgeous lake, or lounging on the ocean beach all day long.

Marie is excited to provide her services to Tanner Clinic and expand the psychiatry department while filling a much-needed role as a pediatric psychiatry provider.
