Mark Kirkham, MD

There are many virtues that make good doctors exceptional doctors. In the case of Mark D. Kirkham, MD, it is thoroughness.

“It’s my biggest concentration,” said the family physician, who practices at the East Layton clinic on the main floor, east wing. Dr. Kirkham has been known for his comprehensive exams and problem-solving skills since he joined the clinic in 1992.

You’ll often hear Dr. Kirkham called Dr. Mark—a name that’s even listed on his business cards. That’s to distinguish him from his brother, Dr. Michael Kirkham (Dr. Mike), who is also a Tanner Clinic family medicine physician. Dr. Mike practices at Tanner Clinic Kaysville.

Dr. Kirkham, a native of Shelby, Idaho, received his B.A. in microbiology from Brigham Young University and his M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine.

He completed his residency at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, Scottsdale, Arizona, as part of Scottsdale Healthcare’s Family Medicine Residency Program.

The physician, who is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice, is also an Aviation Medical Examiner certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to perform physicals for commercial pilots.

He and his wife Marcy are the parents of four children, his youngest daughter was adopted from the Marshall Islands. Dr. Kirkham, who has a pilot’s license, enjoys aviation and remote-controlled aircraft. He’s also a fan of camping, ATV riding, computers, and family activities.

Dr. Kirkham is fluent in Japanese.
