Mary-Virginia Parker, FNP-C, is a Nurse Practitioner in our Endocrinology department practicing at the
Layton Antelope Building A building, located on the
east wing’s third floor.
She graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology from Weber State University, then obtained her nursing degree at Nightingale College and graduated as Valedictorian. She completed her Master’s from Gonzaga University in 2019 as an AANP Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is an active member of professional organizations like Utah Nurse Practitioners and the Nephrology Nurses Association, demonstrating her commitment to the advancement of her field.
She brings not just nephrology expertise, but also a genuine eagerness to continually expand her knowledge base. Her success is rooted in her ability to connect and empathize with patients, identifying and overcoming barriers that may hinder them from reaching their goals. She is excited to be joining Tanner clinic and “having the honor and opportunity to provide care, education, and advocacy to patients with complex medical histories. It is a noble and humbling endeavor.”
She has lived up and down the East Coast, but considers herself a Texan. She comes from a family of seven adopted children of varying descents; the epitome of a melting pot. Outside of work, she finds joy in running and hiking, indulges in crafts like crocheting and painting, and may be guilty of owning too many Legos. She loves to unwind with a good book, favoring a wide variety of genres, from the Harry Potter series to works by John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, and C.S. Lewis. She also loves hard rock music and attempting to beat her husband and kids at video games.
Her husband of 18 years is retired Air Force and, together, they’ve built a family with four children—two daughters aged 25 and 10, and two sons aged 21 and 16. Their household is completed by two dogs and one cat.
