Ryan McDonald, MD, MHA is a Nephrology provider at our Syracuse Clinic. He attended BYU for his undergraduate degree, St. Matthews School of Medicine for medical school, completed a residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation and had a fellowship at LSU. Dr. McDonald is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Dr. McDonald believes that people can dramatically improve their health through proper nutrition and exercise. “There are better ways to improve your health than to just take handfuls of medication every day.” He has wanted to be a doctor since he was very young because he wanted to take care of people. He said “I still love what I do every day. I enjoy helping people have insight into their condition, and find ways to improve their health.”
His happy place is on a secluded spot at Lake Powell with the family, boating around and surfing. He has four children and is constantly attending cheerleading activities, basketball, and soccer, and finding time in between to hit the slopes. He loves snowboarding at the local resorts as well as hiking in the backcountry. One of his guilty pleasures is creole food from New Orleans!
