Scott Bishop, MD

Scott R. Bishop, MD, is a family physician at Tanner Clinic, where he sees patients at Layton Parkway on the first floor. Before he came to Tanner Clinic, Dr. Bishop was an active-duty staff physician at the Family Medicine Clinic on Hill Air Force Base near Layton, working with family members of active personnel as well as retirees.

As a board-certified physician, he offers all aspects of primary care, with a special emphasis on diabetes, hypertension, low testosterone, thyroid disorders, and mental health.

The Utah County native graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in zoology. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and received his medical training at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland.

He completed his residency in family medicine at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base in California, the Air Force’s largest medical facility on the West Coast, and an affiliate of the University of California, Davis.

As a primary care physician, Dr. Bishop spent several years at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, serving as director of the Family Medicine Clinic.

After transferring to Hill Air Force Base, Dr. Bishop served as deputy chief of medical staff and as medical director of the Family Medicine Clinic. While on active-duty, Dr. Bishop served military deployments to Turkey and Iraq.

Dr. Bishop is married with four children. He is fluent in Spanish and an avid traveler. He also enjoys hiking, golf and chess.
