Spencer Atkins, PA-C

Spencer Atkins, PA-C, is a provider at our Behavioral Health and Psychiatry department at East Layton in the basement. He received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science with minors in Chemistry and Biology from Utah State University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from DeSales University. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Spencer believes that “Our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and everybody needs help at some point in their lives.” He also knows it takes a lot of strength to admit when we need help and brings a listening ear and an eagerness to help to his work. He takes pride in his ability to break down a complicated (and sometimes scary) topic, making it easier to understand and discuss with his patients. For Spencer, visiting with a healthcare provider should be a compassionate conversation, not a lecture.

Spencer grew up in Burley, Idaho, and enjoys cooking, board games, watching movies, and playing guitar. (Classic rock, alternative, and acoustic music are his favorites.) A proud tech and fantasy geek, his favorite book is The Hobbit, his favorite movies include Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, and his guilty pleasure is playing video games at the end of a long day. He says that his happy place is anywhere, as long as there is good food and good company—especially if that includes his wife and their “fur-baby” dog. Spencer is excited to be working alongside an excellent group of behavioral healthcare providers at Tanner Clinic.
