Trent Rasmussen, MD

Trent Rasmussen, MD is an Urgent Care doctor located on the main floor of the Layton Antelope Building A west wing. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine. He attended BYU for his undergrad, and then the University of Washington for Medical School. Afterwards, Dr. Rasmussen had a Transitional Internship at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and an ER residency at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. He has been in emergency medicine for over 20 years and looks forward to the transition to urgent care. 

Dr. Rasmussen believes that a “physician can’t always cure, but they can always care.” He enjoys interacting with his patients and takes great satisfaction in helping them to get better. After a career working in an emergency care setting, urgent care is a natural fit. His experience in the military and the ER gives him the tools and background to draw on when patients come into Tanner Clinic needing care when their regular providers are not available. He can quickly build a rapport with patients and he goes through their needs thoroughly. Dr. Rasmussen is also a Flight Surgeon with the Utah Army National Guard and has traveled extensively during his military career. 

His hobbies include golfing, music (he plays the piano, organ, and drums), canning, and biking. His canning is so good, that he has won awards at the Utah State Fair! He loves any book or movie involving war history or science fiction and is “way too fond of desserts.” He grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, but his happy place is camping with his dog or flying helicopters with the Army National Guard. Speaking of his pets, Dr. Rasmussen has “color coordinated pets” that include a black and white cat and dog!
