Dr. Wes Madsen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and recognized expert in total joint replacement. With over 18 years of experience, he is dedicated to helping patients restore mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love. His practice is conveniently located on the first floor of the Layton Parkway Clinic.
Dr. Madsen earned his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and was the Valedictorian. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Utah School of Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at the distinguished University of Rochester Medical Center in New York, where he served as Chief Resident and helped lead the residency curriculum.
He returned to Utah to complete an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Utah, which is one of the nation’s top 50 programs recognized by the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) for excellence in patient care, education, and research. This prestigious recognition highlights the program’s commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research. Dr. Madsen is a serious professional in the office, and his patients can feel the care and concern he has for them.

Known for his compassionate and personalized approach, Dr. Madsen takes time to ensure each patient fully understands their diagnosis and treatment options. “My goal is for every patient to feel my genuine concern, not only during their visit but long after they return home,” he says. “I want each person to experience an excellent long-term outcome.”
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Madsen is a devoted husband and father of four. He enjoys snow and water skiing, traveling, playing board games, discovering new foods, and hunting for beach treasures. A native of Vernal, Utah, he continues to bring his warmth and integrity to patients not only in Utah, but for many patients in Idaho and Wyoming who travel for his specialized care.
