Candice Smith, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric infectious disease doctor practicing in Layton. Her practice areas include pediatric infectious disease consultations and care for all infants, children, and adolescents. This can care for complex infections, periodic fevers, resistant bacteria, travel medicine, adoption issues, vaccine safety issues, and vaccine-preventable diseases. She is the only pediatric infectious disease doctor practicing in Davis County and loves the opportunity to care for children with a complex history. Her practice is on first floor of Layton Parkway, in the pediatric department.

After earning her MD at the University of Utah, Dr. Smith completed her pediatric residency at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Smith then traveled every inch of Interstate 80 from New York to California for her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at Stanford University, one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country.

Dr. Smith was surprised at all the questions she had when she had her first baby – and she was already a pediatrician then! She always welcomes questions and thinks educating parents and children is the most rewarding part of the job. It’s a precious opportunity to develop a relationship of trust with a young child and empower them to take excellent care of their health as they grow up.

When not seeing patients, she reviews vaccine safety questions for the federal government. She has four children and loves hiking with her family.
