Pediatrics

Why do you see a Pediatrician? Pediatricians care for the comprehensive medical and behavioral care for infants, children, and adolescents. Our peditricians at Tanner Clinic provide compassionate care for your child. We are here to provide your child with thorough and personalized healthcare. Particularly during the many ups and downs of childhood and adolescence. Whether your child needs a well-check or vaccination, is running a fever, or has a broken bone, we are dedicated to helping your child feel well all year long. Our Pediatric Urgent Care and walk-ins are available to help care for your family.

Seeing a pediatrician is essential for your child’s health and well-being. From starting school to playing sports, our pediatricians are there for all of their milestones.

BENEFITS:

  1. Expertise in Child Health. Pediatricians undergo extensive training in child-specific medical care, ensuring they are well-equipped to address the unique health needs of children at different stages of growth and development. They are experts in your child’s health care plan.
  2. Preventive Care. Pediatricians provide essential vaccinations, regular check-ups, and screenings to monitor your child’s health and catch any potential issues early, promoting disease prevention and overall well-being.
  3. Early Detection and Intervention. Pediatricians can identify developmental and behavioral concerns early, allowing for timely interventions and support. This can have a significant impact on your child’s long-term health and success.
  4. Specialized Knowledge. Children’s bodies respond differently to illnesses and treatments compared to adults. Pediatricians have specialized knowledge to diagnose and treat various childhood illnesses, infections, and conditions.
  5. Guidance for Parents. Pediatricians offer guidance on nutrition, growth and development, safety, and parenting strategies, helping you make informed decisions to support your child’s health.
  6. Holistic Approach. Pediatricians consider not only physical health but also emotional, social, and developmental aspects of a child’s life, ensuring comprehensive care.
  7. Continuity of Care. Building a long-term relationship with a pediatrician allows for consistent and personalized care as your child grows, ensuring that their health needs are met at each stage.
  8. Referrals to Specialists. If your child requires specialized care, a pediatrician can coordinate and make referrals to appropriate specialists while maintaining oversight of your child’s overall health.
  9. Same-Day Care. Many pediatric practices offer same-day appointments for acute illnesses, providing quick access to medical care when your child is unwell.
  10. Trust and Comfort. Pediatricians create a supportive and child-friendly environment, fostering a sense of trust and comfort that can positively impact your child’s attitude toward healthcare.

In summary, a pediatrician’s expertise in child health, preventive care, early detection, and specialized knowledge make them invaluable partners in ensuring your child’s optimal health and development. Regular visits to a pediatrician help monitor your child’s growth, address health concerns, and provide guidance to support their well-being.

WHEN SHOULD I SEE A PEDIATRICIAN?

The first two years of a baby’s life are crucial for their growth and development and your pediatrician will need to keep tabs on how your baby is doing. That is why the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-check visits starting 3 to 5 days after birth and then at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months. After that, a yearly well-check is highly recommended to monitor your child’s health and development and to ensure that all vaccinations are current.

You should also see your pediatrician if your child is sick, developing a rash, or if there is any other concern that you are having about the health and welfare of your child.
