Dawn Muhlestein, PA-C

Dawn graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Utah State University and then moved to Boise State University to research cancer drugs for nine years. She considered a Ph.D. in biochemistry but chose to attend PA school at Idaho State University. She is located at our Layton Antelope Building B in the basement

Dawn chose healthcare over additional biochemistry research because of the opportunity to directly impact patient lives for the better. Urology is particularly rewarding because many urological complaints are seldom discussed (even with healthcare providers), but these issues have enormous negative impacts on patient quality of life. When urological problems are treated successfully, it can be life-changing for the patient.

Over the course of her career, Dawn has chosen complex specialties. She appreciates the challenges and rewards of resolving urological complaints. Prior to joining Tanner Clinic, Dawn specialized in spine surgery in private practice and also enjoyed working at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Hospital specializing in interventional radiology.

Outside of work, Dawn enjoys doing outdoor activities with her family like backpacking, hiking, and trips in their adventure van to the backcountry. She also loves to swim, bike, and run, often together when she competes in triathlons up to Ironman distance. She likes running but prefers to do it after she has completed a long swim and bike during a triathlon.
