Laekin Clark MS, CCC-SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in voice and swallowing therapy. She sees patients on the second floor of Layton Parkway and second floor (west wing) of our Layton Antelope Building A. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in speech-language pathology from Utah State University. During her time as a student, she completed various internships including an in-patient medical internship at the University of Utah Medical Center and an out-patient clinical internship at the LDS Voice and Swallowing Clinic. She also acted as a research assistant in multiple research labs on the USU campus, dealing with topics such as dysarthria, dysphagia, and voice disorders.

Since graduating, Laekin has earned the Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She strives to align her practice with the latest evidence in the field. She enjoys working with all patients but has a particular interest in voice and dysphagia therapy, which is why she has chosen to work in this particular setting.

Laekin’s passion for voice goes back to her childhood when she could frequently be found singing loudly about just about anything. She carried her love of singing through college, completing a second undergraduate degree in vocal performance before continuing on to get her graduate degree. Her vocal performance degree gave her experience singing as a soloist and in ensembles in a variety of genres. Because of this, Laekin has a unique understanding of the professional and performing voice and has a particular interest in helping professional voice users.

Laekin strongly believes that everyone should have a voice and that the ability to use the voice to communicate is crucial to a good quality of life. She is also passionate about advocating for the needs of her patients beyond the therapy room and collaborating inter-professionally with other experts where needed. She believes that listening is the best thing you can do for a patient and that each patient is unique in their needs, interests, and priorities and this should be respected.
