Rachael Gardner, RDN, comes to Tanner Clinic with a passion for helping patients make a difference in their lifestyle and improve the quality of their lives. She works to build small regular habits that will lead to long-term success. She believes “It’s not just about weight or numbers on a scale but overall health and quality of life”. She believes if patients are educated on the vital role nutrition has on disease, as well as given the appropriate tools they need to implement this knowledge, they can be in control of their outcomes. Rachel is located at our Layton Antelope Building A on the basement level, East Wing.

She is passionate about nutrition and loves learning and seeking out the most evidence-based practices and current science on all different topics. “If I encounter something I don’t know enough about I will research it until I feel able to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information for my patients.” She wants to help people discover the source of their problems and how their diet can help prevent or reverse them.  “It’s rewarding to see the change in them as they feel better physically and emotionally.”

She grew up in Fruit Heights, Utah, and attended Utah State University where she earned her degree in Dietetics. Her love of nutrition began when she was in adolescence and led her to that career path. She started at WIC, then worked for 10 years at McKay Dee Hospital in the NICU and Women and Children’s unit. She also works as a consultant at Family Tree Assisted Living.

Along with providing medical nutrition therapy, she specializes in weight management, diabetes,  heart disease, fatty liver, kidney disease, hypothyroidism, celiac disease,  gut health (IBS, IBD, SIBO), as well as pediatric nutrition.

Outside of work, Gardner enjoys boating, snow skiing, reading, playing the piano, being a mother, and spending time with her family.

Gardner is fluent in Spanish.
