Malisa Lemon, LCSW joined the eating disorders team in the behavioral health department in 2022. She has the following certifications: Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP), Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), and Certified Mental Health Integrative Nutrition Medicine Professional (CMHIMP). She is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals. Her practice is located at our East Layton location in the west wing basement.

Malisa believes our native language is play. As we grow, we need a safe space in which we are able to express and process our experiences – to express ourselves with no judgment, no limitations, and through a modality of mediums. Success and growth can come from experiencing the therapeutic power of healthy relationships, and a supportive environment, and gaining the tools necessary for coping with life’s challenges, ultimately obtaining an appropriate sense of control over one’s self. She is passionate about the needs of families and the impact of mental health on children and adolescents. She enjoys incorporating play, art, mindfulness, nutrition, music, literature, and movement into each session, working from a strength-based based, holistic approach. She believes in empowering others to make lasting changes. She loves to learn, doesn’t easily give up, and is very honest with those she serves. She believes people do better when they feel better and she loves helping others see that potential in themselves.

Some of her favorite books are “White Oleander” by Janet Fitch and “Mexican Gothic” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. She tends to like ghost stories but is admittedly a lover of all books by F. Scott Fitzgerald.  Malisa’s favorite movie is Hocus Pocus. As for music, she loves all music and also loves to incorporate music into therapy sessions.

Malisa’s guilty pleasures are chocolate, thrift shopping, and early morning drives in the summertime. She likes trying new things/new experiences, dancing, watercolor painting, reading, puzzles, running, and spending time with her family. She grew up in Sunnyside, Utah, and loves experiencing something new – like a concert or activity with those she loves.
